my story…

After cofounding Blackwood Homes, A home staging, project management, and design firm with my sister in 2018 we quickly decided that it was much simpler to focus on our own individual strengths. Jennifer went on to pursue a career in project management and I founded Sarah Nowak Interiors, in 2019.

In the beginning I was focused on home staging and from day one I knew that I wanted to fill what I saw as a void in the marketplace. For the most part, stagers are taught that they must keep furnishings generic in order to appeal to the widest possible audience. My aim was to produce a thoughtfully curated look that would invoke an emotional response in potential buyers. I knew that I’d be going against the grain by offering that but the risk has been rewarding. By taking a more customized approach to home staging than my peers, I’ve carved out a little niche for myself to which people respond positively.

In 2021 I was invited to participate as a cast member and design expert for A&E’s hit series Zombie House flipping. I wholeheartedly beleive that my genuine and unique approach to home staging and design is what set me apart from the crowd enough to be chosen for such an incredible project.

I’m always looking for opportunities to bring that same approach into everything that I do whether it’s renovation designs, interior decorating, or furniture design. I hope to inspire others and prove that you don’t have to keep things generic to be widely appealing and good design can be accessible to everyone.
