Interviewer: As we step into 2025, the design world is buzzing with possibilities. Can you give us a sneak peek into the trends you're predicting for the year ahead?

Sarah: Absolutely, for years minimalism has been a dominant force in interior design, but this year, we’re seeing an exciting shift toward maximalism. Bold, layered interiors are making waves, with a cohesive mix of different styles and time periods. The goal is to create spaces that feel entirely unique while still being refined and thoughtfully curated rather than a random kitschy mess.

Interviewer: That’s a refreshing change! What about colors? Are we leaving neutrals behind?

Sarah: Not entirely, but we’re seeing a move toward richer, more vibrant hues. Think saturated greens and blues, rich earth tones, and a range of bold reds. Brown will also continue to feel fresh, especially in high-gloss applications that add a touch of unexpected sophistication. This will extend to all types surfaces so get ready to see bold cabinets, tile, furniture etc. These colors infuse spaces with energy and personality, setting the tone for really memorable interiors.

Interviewer: And patterns? Will they still have a place in 2025?

Sarah: Absolutely! Bold pattern mixing is going to be a standout trend. People are ready to experiment with layering stripes, florals, and geometrics in ways that are playful yet polished. The secret is balance—combining these elements thoughtfully so they enhance, rather than compete with, one another. And patterns aren’t just reserved for wallpaper and fabrics. I’m seeing more and more designers get bold with hard finishes, creating large and small-scale patterns with tile, millwork, glass, and wall cladding. It’s an exciting way to add dimension and character to a space.

Interviewer: "What do you think will be the most surprising trend of 2025?"

Sarah: "I think people may be surprised to see the ceiling get more attention. We’ve sort of ignored ceilings for a while, but I think we’ll see a significant increase in ceilings being more incorporated into rooms. Definitely more painted, wallpapered, and coffered ceilings, but I also think we’ll start to see more domed, barrel-vaulted, and coved ceilings as well. Ceilings are becoming the fifth wall, adding drama, depth, and a sense of architecture to spaces."

Interviewer: "It sounds like 2025 is shaping up to be a year of bold and dynamic design. How will you apply these trends in your projects this year?"

Sarah: "We’re all about creating cozy interiors that feel luxurious yet approachable and totally unique so we try not to lean too hard into trends. I really want our clients to feel like their investment will have longevity and what’s great about the trends we’ll see this year is that character and personality are the overarching themes. So as long as you’re implementing the above trends in ways that feel authentic, you will love it for years to come.

Interviewer: “Ok one final question... what’s a trend people should leave in 2024?”

Sarah: “Oh boy, where do I start? Seriously though, my biggest hope is that everyone will embrace more uniqueness. So that means leaving behind the mass-produced wall art, complete matching furniture sets, printed flat-weave rugs, and just cheap generic fast-furniture. Although quality can be pricey, you don’t have to have a huge budget to create a totally unique space. I’ve been working on a new project that will focus more on those types of interiors and along with that a monthly newsletter where you can expect tips for embracing fresh design ideas, expert insights, my favorite sources for fixtures & furniture, and a behind-the-scenes look at how we bring those visions to life. Whether you’re a design lover, a real estate professional, or just looking for inspiration, we’ve got something for you. I’m so excited to share this journey with our readers!"
